U.S. Olympic Women’s Ski Jump Team Named

After years of delays, Women’s Ski Jumping will finally make its Olympic debut at the Sochi games.  There will only be one event for the women, on the 90 meter hill, as opposed to three for the men’s team, (90 meter, 120 meter, and a team event).  Japan’s Sara Takanashi is having a terrific year on the World Cup circuit and is considered the gold medal favorite.  But the U.S. team is strong as well.  Jessica Jerome won the U.S. Olympic trials:

Also on the team is former world champion Lindsey Van. Yes, Van, not Vonn. The 29 year old Van has been jumping competitively since 2002.

The third member of the team is defending world champion Sarah Hendrickson. She seriously injured her knee in August of 2013, but recovered well enough to compete at an elite level and make the team.

Good luck in Sochi, ladies!
