Top Ranked Oklahoma Loses to #19 Iowa State

Oklahoma’s men’s basketball team ascended to #1 in the AP poll for the first time in 26 years on January 18th, then lost to #19 Iowa State 82-77 in Ames, Iowa a few hours later. It was the first time Iowa State had beaten a #1 team since 1957. Georges Niang led the Cyclones with 22 points, while Abdel Nader and Monte Morris each had 20. Buddy Held led the Sooners with 27 and Isiah Cousins contributed 26. Iowa State improved to 14-4; Oklahoma is 15-2.

Elsewhere, #20 Duke (14-5) lost to Syracuse (13-7) 64-62. The defending NCAA champion Blue Devils have lost three in row for the first time since the 2006-7 season.
