Taylor Swift Accused of Racism. C’mon now!

There apparently is backlash over Taylor Swift’s new video and the racism word is involved in it because (gasp) Taylor had some black dancers twerking in her video.

Are we nuts or was Miley Cyrus onstage last year doing this in a far more blatant way? Looks like we missed the racist part of any Miley backlash, although she did get included in a 2013 list on HuffPost calling that year “The Year of Cultural Appropriation.”

Rapper, Earl Sweatshirt, who admits that he has never even seen the video, sent out a series of tweets slamming Swift’s video for “perpetuating racial stereotypes” and being “inherently offensive and ultimately harmful”. You really have to be looking for it to come away with that impression, don’t you? By the way, they appear to be diverse twerkers. But, nonetheless, Bustle.com thinks Swift owes someone an apology:

“Up until this point, Swift has been a fairly innocuous and generally beloved star bordering the line of country and pop and providing girl power-ish anthems while still projecting an image of the good girl with a bit of bite. She’s not a previous offender of being racially insensitive, but lo and behold, it looks like she had it in her. …it will be so disappointing if she tries to innocently avoid the topic or fails to apologize. But if she’s anything like her peers in the popstar universe (always, always looking at you, Katy Perry), Swift probably won’t provide the kind of response Earl Sweatshirt and the rest of her rightfully angry critics are looking for.”

Why they are “rightfully angry” eludes us. Why should Taylor Swift address any remarks to someone offended by a video he didn’t even watch? It kinda takes hating to a different level, like saying you hate some dish that you have never even tried.
