My son won Nets season tickets in a contest at a sporting good store for the 1997-98 season when he was in the 7th grade.
We had so much fun going to all of the games. They were actually pretty good that year.

Cool, Rhonda! Remembering stuff you or family members won rocks :)

I won $50 from a flea market raffle once. I turned around and bought my son a Yogi Berra card from one of the vendors. I don’t remember exactly what it cost but I dont think it was the whole $50.

That must have been so much fun, VJ! Does your son still have the Yogi Berra card? I’ve never had much luck with contests or raffles myself.

He does still have it, Rhonda, and all the other cards he got hold of when he was into that in the 80s.

I’ve had better luck with contests than sweepstakes. I don’t enter them that much. My daughter won a real nice phone in an online sweepstake once. That’s probably why she likes them more than me. :)

I won a jar of dill pickles at a church luncheon for correctly guessing there were 15 in the jar.

Oh, and I won”Cutest” in a costume contest at camp when I was little. I was dressed like the Little Dutch Boy on the paint can, my hair was like that so it was a big hit. The prize was a watermelon for our group but I was out sick the day they got it. ha ha ha!

My mom won $3K in a local newspaper contest when I was about 8 years old. The whole prize was $9K but she was one of 3 winners. I remember two things about it: they didn’t notify her that she won before my father saw the winners’ names in the Sunday paper. He read her name out loud, all excited, and said “We won!” My mom was miffed that he said “we.” LOL!
