Supporting Cast of What Jesus Said – Boardwalk Empire

Here are some of the actors who appeared in “What Jesus Said”, the third episode of Season 5 of Boardwalk Empire (9/21/2014).

The dead bodies are piling up. Used to be that there was a casualty or two (or 3 or more!) in every other episode of Boardwalk Empire but in the last season of Boardwalk Empire, there are only 8 episodes, so the pace has picked up.

Oliva Nikkanen and Mary Bacon played Fern and Marie, who live by themselves in the home that Milton and Chalky headed off to rob after escaping from a chain gang. Milton always planned to rob this house since he learned there was a safe in it when delivering a 100 lb. block of ice for a party. Fern and Marie were a bit more talkative and resourceful in backing up each other’s lies than most people would be with a lunatic pointing a gun at them. Fern tried chatting up Chalky about his daughter, Maybelle. Funny that Chalky revealed his daughter’s name, wasn’t it? He was calling Milton “Buck” at the house.

Rotten Tomatoes has listed the character as “Buck Milton”, but we’re going by the first episode Warner Miller was in — Golden Days. In the “ass-backwards” story he told of how he got the scar on his head, he mentioned his Pappy calling him Milton. So we just figured Chalky was calling him Buck in the way that he used to call Dunn that, or in the way the chain gang prisoners were calling each other Hoss. We don’t think Milton ever even knew Chalky by name. If he knew it at all, it would have as Albert. Chalky killed Milton because he thought he was going to kill Fern.

Travis Tope

Travis Tope plays a young boy about to turn 16 years old who gets Mickey Doyle (Paul Sparks) to give him a job. IMDB claims this character is going to be called Slim but speculation is he’s Tommy Darmody. He said he’s strong as an ox and worked on a farm since he was a kid. Last time we saw Tommy, he was heading off to the Harrow farm in Wisconsin with his step-mother Julia and her father Paul Sagorsky. Paul had cirrhosis so he’s dead by now. The Slim character is already listed in several upcoming episodes so it’s entirely possible that Tommy came back to Atlantic City to find out what really happened to his beloved Richard Harrow.

Shae D’Lyn appeared as Carolyn Rothstein, the widow of Arnold Rothstein (Michael Stuhlberg). Carolyn did not much care whether Margaret Rohan was shtupping Arnold or not. She just wants the money that was in the Conors & Gould trading account where Margaret works. Margaret can play the innocent till the cows come home — the Irish charm is totally wasted on the cynical widow. Margaret did seem a tad upset about the mistress accusation and quickly copped to a business arrangement with Rothstein. The revelation that Carolyn Rothstein knew who her estranged husband is sent Margaret back to Nucky for help.

Georgia Ximenes Lifsher aka Corvette LeFace played Kitty the stripper who so impressed Joe Kennedy (Matt Letscher), he decided to bring her a “saucer of milk” despite the fact that he already has 8 kids and one on the way. Poor Rose!
