Supporting Cast of Primm’s Big Green Horseshoe: Ray Donovan

Here are some of the actors who appeared in “Little Bill Primm’s Big Green Horseshoe” (7-10-2016), Episode 3 of Ray Donovan’s Season 4. The episode recap is here.

Apesanahkwat as Wovoka in Ray Donovan

Apesanahkwat as Wovoka tells Mickey a story about a hunter and a tree

Apesanahkwat made his second appearance as Wovoka, the Native American who called Mickey a “crooked tree” in the first episode when Mickey’s alias was Chip O’Malley. Wovoka has an alias himself: Jerry. This crooked tree thing could be Mickey’s theme throughout the season the way “the captain” was in Season 2.

Paula Jai Parker as Silvie Starr in Ray Donovan

Silvie Starr singing ELO’s “Livin’ Thing”

Paula Jai Parker played Silvie Starr. She was singing “Livin’ Thing” (Electric Light Orchestra) when Mickey snuck into the casino to arrange a meeting with her so he could get her to send a signal at the right time to steal the Big Green Horseshoe. She’s got a beautiful voice and she’s a beautiful woman. What does she see in Mickey? Something the rest of us don’t, that’s for sure. But maybe she’s right– Mickey usually does land on his feet and he could be the last one standing for all we know.

Travis Hammer as Pinkie and J. LaRose as Ed in Ray Donovan

Pinkie explains his name to Ed and Mickey Donovan

Pinkie told Mickey that his name is actually “Pinkie-Toe Josephine Melcher III and the reason that his dad and grandfather were named the I and II “receptively” is “cause, you know, like, when they was born, just, like their pinkie toes stuck out to the side like that.” Ed and Pinkie took off with the Green Horseshoe but we think that it was all Ed’s idea to cut Mickey out and Pinkie’s not going to get what he was expecting either.

Aaron Staton as Greg Donellen in Ray Donovan

He’s back! Aaron Staton as Greg Donellen

Aaron Staton returned as Bridget Donovan’s former teacher and now lover. “I love your daughter” is not exactly the thing a dad wants to hear from a 34-year-old man on your daughter’s 18th birthday. And Abby was really hurt when Bridget told her she didn’t ever want to pass the crazy Donovan genes down to some poor child.

More notes:

  • Emma Vicera played Bill Primm’s nanny, Algoma. Her name means “valley of the flowers.”
  • Darryl’s question to Terry if he looks at him like an actual brother was very funny if you looked at in the double entendre way that Darryl took being called “El Negro” in Mexico back in Season 2.
  • Who did Terry have William Demarest mixed up with?
  • Detective Sheila Muncie (Michael Hyatt) was murdered in this episode. She was also murdered when she played a law enforcement officer in “True Detective” last August!
