Russell Westbrook Sets NBA Triple Double Record

Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook broke Oscar Robertson’s 55 year old record for NBA triple doubles in the Thunders’ 106-105 victory over the Denver Nuggets on April 9th with a whopper of a game. Westbrook scored 50 points, grabbed 16 rebounds, and 10 assists in the game, and also won it on a 36 foot buzzer beater.

It was Westbrook’s third 50 point triple double game this season. He leads the NBA in scoring average at 31.9 points per game. Many prognosticators figured the Thunder wouldn’t reach the post season following the departure of Kevin Durant, but OKC will be the sixth seed in the Western Conference playoffs, due in large part to Westbrook’s huge season. We see no reason why Westbrook should not be the league’s MVP this year, but the Westbrook haters are scratching to find a reason to deny him, just as the LeBron James haters have done in other seasons.
