Russell Westbrook Gets His 15th Triple Double of the Season as Oklahoma City Tops Houston 111-107

Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook is stating a good case for consideration as the NBA’s most complete player. On March 22nd, the Thunder beat the Houston Rockets 111-107 in Oklahoma City. Westbrook had 21 points, 15 assists, and 13 rebounds for the victors. It was his 15th triple double of the season. The last time anyone had more was during the 1988-89 season, when the Lakers’ Magic Johnson had 17.

Golden State’s Stephen Curry is having an unbelievable season, and is no doubt the front runner for the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award, but if he wasn’t, Westbrook would have to be part of the discussion. Through games of March 22nd, he’s averaging 23.7 points per game (9th in the league), 10.5 assists per game (2nd), 7.7 rebounds per game, and 2.07 steals per game (4th in the NBA). It doesn’t hurt that the Thunder are winning. Golden State and San Antonio long ago distanced themselves from the pack in the NBA Western Conference but Oklahoma City has the third best record in the conference at 49-22. The Thunder have won five in a row and have clinched a playoff spot.

Although you make a solid point , quietly Tim Duncan humbly leads the Spurs by doing everything both neccessary and sufficient. To me though, LeBron is the one player I would pick to revolve my team around.
