Despite the rumors reported by L’Express France, the wedding of Prince Albert of Monaco and South African beauty, Charlene Wittstock is scheduled to go ahead as planned with a civil ceremony on Friday, July 1st and a religious ceremony the following day.
According to L’Express, the 33 year old Charlene boarded a plane with a one-way ticket to South Africa and the wedding was going to be called off. L’Express was threatened with a lawsuit if it did not retract the rumors, which have now grown to include a pregnant woman claiming Prince Albert is her baby’s father.
Prince Albert already has two children with two ex-girlfriends, but refused to acknowledge the children until paternity tests proved he was their father.
Le Figaro reported that the Prince’s Parisian attorney accused L’Express of starting a media frenzy. L’Express refused to take its story down despite the threats, with editor, Christophe Barbier maintaining that their information came from 3 very reliable sources. L’Express did print the Royal Palaces denial of the rumors.
Barbier also said the fact that many of the crowned heads and representatives of various European countries would be attending the royal wedding made it a political event. In other words, if the bride flew the royal coop, it would be a royal mess.
