It’s times like these when we need contests. Like quickest on the title draw. Ricky Martin posts on his website that he is proud to be gay, after years of denying it. The man is 38 years old, after all, and has been the speculation of alleged gayness for years. Barbara Walters even apologized earlier this month for that time years ago where she tried to get Ricky to admit he was gay because she felt she ruined his career. Why the hell would she need to know other than to be the one to get him to admit it, anyway, unless she was planning on seducing him, but we all know that wasn’t it. She was just being a nosy old hagster.
Well back to the titles — the first “original” one we saw was “Ricky Martin Living La Vida Open.” This happens all the time whenever the news has something to do with a singer. Adapt one of the singer’s popular tunes to the news. How clever. It’s not really original, but being the first to come up with something relevant that goes with the topic should count for something. That title should win quickest on the title draw fer sure.
The runner up would be “Ricky Martin Comes Out of the Closet” because it is the complete sentence. There was the shorter version: “Ricky Comes Out.” PUH- LEEEASE! — Don’t let it get any shorter.
Perez in case you didn’t know it, predicted Ricky Martin would “come out” way back on his blog on December 10, 2008.
Whether Ricky deserves to be congratulated on his decision to stop living the proverbial lie is up to your own personal opinion. He can claim he listened to some people, and so on, but he really did it so he could cash in on the sexy persona. And he even went around claiming he was going to marry Mexican model, Rebecca de Alba and all that. Who told him to do that?
