Prince Charles Says Putin is Acting Like Hitler

Vladimir Putin, Prince Charles

During his visit to Canada, Britain’s Prince Charles had a conversation with a museum volunteer in Halifax, Nova Scotia on Monday that the Daily Mail says “is certain to cause international controversy.” The volunteer, 78-year-old Marienne Ferguson, was given the opportunity relate her personal story to Prince Charles about how her Jewish family fled to Canada from Poland when she was only 13 years old. She told the Prince, as she showed him the exhibits at Pier 21, Canada’s national museum of immigration, how members of her family who were unable to get permits to sail to Canada were part of approximately 600 Jews from her birthplace that were sent to Nazi camps where they died. As the visit ended, Prince Charles somehow decided to bring Russian President Vladimir Putin into the conversation, saying “And now Putin is doing just about the same as Hitler” and the remark was overheard (obviously or it wouldn’t be in the news now) by several witnesses.

“I must say that I agree with him and am sure a lot of people do,” Marienne Ferguson remarked, adding, “I was very surprised that he made the comment as I know they (the Royal Family) aren’t meant to say these things but it was very heartfelt and honest.”

Be that as it may, it sure seems like an incredible thing for Prince Charles to say. He is supposed to meet with Vladimir Putin at D-Day commemorations in France on June 6, and it will be interesting at least to see if the Russian president even shows up after that.
