Has Michael Vick really turned his life around after being released from prison? The Philadelphia Eagles think so and are backing that up with big money. Now in his third season with the Eagles since his release after serving 18 months for conducting dogfights, the team has decided he really has changed and signed the 31 year old quarterback for what is probably the rest of his playing career. Reportedly, the deal is worth $100 million over six years with $40 million guaranteed.
Vick led the Eagles to an 8-3 record in 11 games as a starter last year. He’s back to being one of the most exciting players in the NFL, and his off-field conduct does indeed indicate he’s changed. With Vick in the fold, plus some high profile free agent signings this summer, the Eagles are considered by many to be a front runner for the Super Bowl. However, unlike some of the “experts” out there, we here at Fikkle Fame refuse to award Philadelphia the Vince Lombardi trophy on the sole basis of off season acquisitions. But we agree they will be right in the thick of it this season.
