After two frustrating losses to their former quarterback last season, the Green Bay Packers finally beat the Brett Favre led Minnesota Vikings at Lambeau Field October 24th. The game was right down to the wire, and it looked like Favre would once again come up with a fourth quarter comeback victory. Favre threw an apparent touchdown pass to Percy Harvin with 48 seconds left, but Harvin came down with only one foot in bounds, and the touchdown was disallowed. Then on a fourth down play from the 20 yard line with seconds to play, Favre overthrew Randy Moss in the end zone to seal the victory for the Packers.
Favre was 16 for 29 passing for 212 yards and one touchdown. Favre also had three second half interceptions; one was returned for a touchdown by linebacker Desmond Bishop. The Packers managed to sack Favre just once, but he was battered around nonetheless, and came up limping several times.
Afterwards, Vikings head coach Brad Childress was critical of the officiating, calling it “the worst officiated game I’ve seen”, but also of Favre’s decision making. Childress indicated he considered replacing Favre after one of the interceptions. The two have a somewhat tense relationship as it is, and this won’t help.
Meanwhile, Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer reported that Favre has admitted sending voice messages, but no photographs, to Jenn Sterger, the former New York Jets employee who now works for the Versus Network. Favre is being investigated for possible violations of the NFL’s personal conduct policy by allegedly sending inappropriate messages and photos to Sterger. Glazer did not name his source for this information.
With all that’s going on Favre has to be wondering if it was good idea to return for one more season.
