Oprah’s Latest Acquisition

Oprah Winfrey bought her father’s barber shop to prevent foreclosure. Local Nashville station WSMV reported on the story with footage of Oprah’s stepmother, Barbara Winfrey, who was less than thrilled with this turn of events.

Barbara Winfrey told WSMV that she was planning to take out a loan to prevent the foreclosure, but apparently, she couldn’t get her plan in place because her billionaire stepdaughter was the highest bidder at the foreclosure auction, plunking down $475,000 to become the owner. Her 80-year-old father, Vernon Winfrey will continue to manage the business on a daily business. The shop has been in Nashville for over 50 years.

Barbara Winfrey told WSMV that Oprah Winfrey “doesn’t care about the community, doesn’t care about the barbershop, but I do.”

But it looks like she’s not going to have to worry about it too much. Vernon Winfrey filed for a divorce.
