Oprah the Pirate

The final episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” will air on May 25th and Oprah is exploiting that to the max. According to the NY Post, The Queen of Talk is charging $1 million for commercial time.

“A 30-second spot during the May 25 farewell episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” will cost ad buyers $1 million — that’s nearly 18 times more than the show’s recent asking price of $57,400, as reported by Nielsen earlier in the season. ”

Just despicable. There’s just not enough millions and billions in the world for Oprah Winfrey. Maybe she needs the money for her OWN network or to give away another million to “one” lucky person.

Not to rant, but greed is one of our pet peeves. Grandstanding, too, for that matter. We even hate the Mega Millions lottery. Why stack the odds so high that the jackpot reaches gigantic proportions of hundreds of millions of dollars. Then, incredibly, only one ticket will take the prize. Spread the wealth around a little more.

Today Oprah is having a rock goddess-palooza. Rock goddesses of the 70s and 80s. On her site, it say the guests will be “Stevie Nicks and Sheryl Crow, Joan Jett and Miley Cyrus, Salt-N-Pepa, Pat Benatar and Avril Lavigne. Plus, a sing-along finale with Sister Sledge!”

Rock goddesses of the 70s and 80s?

How did Miley Cyrus and Avril Lavigne get in there?
