Miss Universe Top 5 and yeah, That Steve Harvey Moment

So we wanted to watch the Miss Universe pageant last Sunday, or at least the last hour, but it was the same night as “The Affair” finale so we couldn’t.

And look what we missed! Just live, of course, because practically everybody has seen this by now and probably even read about Steve Harvey’s subsequent apology where he made things even worse by tweeting “I want to apologize emphatically to Miss Philippians and Miss Columbia. This was a terribly honest human mistake and I am so regretful.”

He cleared up that tweet a bit later with some proper spelling but that hasn’t done much to stop the online roasting he’s been getting.

Meantime, all we really wanted to know is who made it to the Top 5 and we always like to see the Q & A segment:

Here are the names and countries of the Top 5:

Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach – Miss Universe 2015
Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez – 1st runner up
Miss USA, Olivia Jordan – 2nd runner up
Miss Australia, Monika Radulovic
Miss France, Flora Coquerel

Wow. I had read about this. Seeing it is even worse than I imagined. I have always thought it odd that the winner was always implied by the announcement of the first runner-up. I think that practice may end here (ok, maybe last year). I have to wonder if they start flat-out announcing the winner, if she’ll think the other won.

yep, that was really bad. I agree that the announcement of the first runner-up makes the announcement of the winner a kind of anti-climax.
