Miss Phillipine’s Biggest Mistake

Her Answer to the Mistake Question! Sometimes even when you are only 22, you zig when you should have zagged, but it doesn’t always cost you the Miss Universe crown

Venus Raj, Miss Philippines 2010, was considered a favorite to win the entire Miss Universe pageant. But it looks like she blew it in the Q&A when guest judge William Baldwin asked her what the biggest mistake of her life was and what she did to fix it.

Venus didn’t have a big faux pas at the ready to share and fell back, in stilted English, on her youth. She wanted to make the point that she was too young to have done anything that awful, and also mentioned what a great support her family has been in her life as if to say that their love and support kept her from making any mistakes she might otherwise feel regret over.

Ironically, this misunderstanding turned out to be a big mistake in and of itself. Ms. Raj failed to even make the top three in the 2010 Miss Universe contest.

While some may not feel this is fair, thinking on your feet is a skill considered very important since Miss Universe will be speaking on many occasions throughout her year long reign.

Unfortunately for Miss Phillipines, Miss Mexico will now be the one delivering those speeches in 2010.

Jimena Navarrete of Guadalajara, Mexico, who is also 22, won the crown. Yendi Phillips, Miss Jamaica was 1st runner up and Jesinta Campbell, Miss Australia was 2nd. Anna Poslavska, Miss Ukraine came in 3rd and Miss Philippines came in dead last.
