Miami Beats Duke on Last Second Eight Lateral Kickoff Return

One week after suffering a 58-0 blowout loss to Clemson, which led to the firing of their head coach, the Miami Hurricanes beat 23rd ranked Duke in the strangest finish this side of the 1982 Stanford–California game. Duke scored a touchdown to take a 27-24 lead with six seconds left.

There were a total of eight laterals in the play, and a Hurricane penalty flag was rescinded. The play stood for an unlikely 30-27 Miami victory.
