Louisville QB Lamar Jackson’s Scores Four TDs and Runs for Another in 62-28 Rout of Syracuse

Louisville sophomore quarterback Lamar Jackson threw six touchdown passes against Charlotte in the Cardinals’ opener, and scored two himself in the 70-14 crushing of the 49ers. That could be chalked up perhaps to an early season mismatch of two teams of different calibers (Charlotte was just 2-10 last year. But then again, Jackson showed in Louisville’s ACC opener at Syracuse on September 10th that he is indeed very talented, and extremely exciting to watch.

Jackson only threw one touchdown pass against the Orange, but he did pass for 411 yards. He also rushed for 199 yards and scored four touchdowns himself in the 62-28 rout. His 610 total yards is an ACC record.

After two games, Jackson has passed for 697 yards and seven touchdowns. He has a quarterback rating of 188.1. He’s rushed for 318 yards on 32 carries (9.9 yards per carry) and has scored six rushing touchdowns. We’d say he’s now in the Heisman Trophy discussion. However, the competition will be much tougher in the Cardinals’ next game on September 17th when they will host third ranked Florida State.
