Actress Noel Neill, who played Lois Lane in the long-running 1950s TV series, “The Adventures of Superman,” turns 90 years old today and we found this great tribute someone posted on youtube in honor of her birthday.
Ms. Neill is not the only surviving member of the original main cast, but she is the oldest. Phyllis Coates, who turned 83 in January this year, played Lois Lane in the first season of “The Adventures of Superman.” Jack Larson (cub reporter, Jimmy Olsen) is 82.
John Hamilton who played Perry White (Great Caesar’s Ghost!) passed away at age 71 in 1958, and the show’s Superman and Clark Kent, George Reeve, died tragically at age 45 from a gunshot wound that was ruled self-inflicted. To this day, many refuse to believe the actor committed suicide and believe he was murdered or the victim of an accidental shooting.
Many guest stars on “The Adventures of Superman” went on to become famous in another TV series, like Russell Johnson, who played the Professor on “Gilligan’s Island;” Chuck Connors a.k.a The Rifleman, and Victor Sen Yung, most well known as the Cartwright’s persnickety cook, Hop Sing on “Bonanza.”
