Don’t you just love all the drama surrounding Lindsay Lohan? The latest twist in the Lindsay labyrinth found her surrendering this morning with her original attorney, Shawn Holley Chapman, and not legal eagle, Robert Shapiro.
Apparently, it was such a festive occasion, someone threw confetti as Lindsay headed into Beverly Hills Superior Court. Evidently, after a week of hearing that she was going to be represented by attorney Robert Shapiro (who also represented O.J. Simpson), and he was somehow going to perform a miracle by having her sentence commuted to rehab instead of jail, such is not the case at all!
“The only ‘bookings’ that i’m familiar with are Disney Films, never thought that i’d be ‘booking’ into Jail… eeeks,” tweeted Lindsay last night as the prison gates were about to yawn open to receive her, even though she apparently had been in denial since the July 6th sentence of 90 days was handed down by Judge Marsha Revel.
Robert Shapiro actually decided only to assist Lindsay “unofficially” and only if she agreed to comply with the court’s orders and did her jail time. But Mr. Shapiro never filed anything like a substitution of attorney with the court or a notice of representation. Lindsay’s attorney during the case was Shawn Chapman Holley, and she never formally removed herself as attorney of record.
Lindsay Lohan also tweeted over the last couple of days that she does not want her “ex-father,” Michael Lohan, Sr., anywhere near her.
Lisa Bloom, Michael Lohan’s attorney, appeared on the Joy Behar show on July 19th. She said that if Lindsay had listened to her father 3 months ago, she would not be going to jail. She also said that she believes Lindsay’s real problem is prescription medication and jail is not going to help her because she will be allowed to take medications.
Right after Joy’s show, Nancy Grace spoke to women’s rights attorney, Gloria Allred, who pointed out that a lot of people were saying that Robert Shapiro had signed Lindsay into a rehab, when in fact it was a sober living facility for people who had already gone through rehab. Gloria said since Lindsay never was rehabilitated, she shouldn’t have been in the sober living facility. Allred also said that it is unlikely the judge will entertain an application from Robert Shapiro (assuming he would be appearing in court and allowed to speak on behalf of Lindsay Lohan) permitting Lindsay to stay in a sober living facility because she has not been rehabilitated.
Gloria Allred also said that Lindsay will be transported from the court to the jail with other inmates, but once there, her information is that Lindsay will have her own cell and will not be mixing with the general prison population.
Shawn Holley Chapman should have made an an application to allow Lindsay to have twitter. Her tweets will be sorely missed if she’s not allowed to have twitter.
And what’s this we hear about her getting out early because of overcrowding? How overcrowded can they be when they can assign Lindsay a private cell?
