Lebron, Miami Heat Face Boston Celtics in NBA East Semifinals

The Miami Heat disposed of the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the NBA playoffs April 27th, and will next take on the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals. Ever since Lebron James and Chris Bosh joined forces with Dwyane Wade in South Beach, expectations were that anything short of an NBA Championship would constitute failure. However, teams didn’t just roll over for the Heat during the season; Miami is actually the number 2 seed in the East behind the Chicago Bulls, who had the best regular season record in the NBA. The San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference also finished with a better regular season record than Miami.
The Celtics are the defending Eastern Conference champs, and they beat Miami three out of four times during the regular season. Lebron lost to Boston in the playoffs in 2008 and 2010 when he was with the Cleveland Cavaliers, so there is some additional pressure to prove his team can beat the Celtics when it counts the most. This series should generate more interest than the typical NBA semifinal playoff round. The series opens in Miami on May 1st.
