So how much do the Cleveland Cavaliers miss LeBron James? As it turns out, plenty. The Boston Celtics beat the Cavaliers in Boston 112-95 on January 25th, handing them their 18th straight loss and their 28th loss in their last 29 games. Cleveland had the best record in the NBA in the 2009-10 season, finishing at 61-21. They now have the NBA’s worst record at 8-37.
Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
The night before the Boston game, it seemed like there was a chance the futility would end, as the Cavs traveled to New Jersey to take on the nearly as inept New Jersey Nets. But New Jersey’s Brook Lopez hit a turnaround jumper with 1.4 seconds left to give the Nets their 13th win of the season by a final score of 103-101.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are averaging just 92.6 points per game, or second from the bottom in the NBA. They are allowing 104.7, seventh most in the league. The -11.3 point differential is by far the worst in the NBA (the Washington Wizards are next worse at -6.0). Last year, LeBron James averaged 29.7 points per game before taking off for South Beach and the Miami Heat. The Cavs are not making up the difference with defense.
As we say here at Fikkle Fame, sometimes you’re hot, sometimes you’re not, and the Cleveland Cavaliers are about as cold as it gets right now.
