MTV reports that Lady Gaga will be helping Mayor Michael Bloomberg ring in 2012 in the Time’s Square annual New Year’s Eve celebration. She was personally chosen by Hizzoner to push a Waterford Crystal button at 11:59 p.m., ushering in the New Year in the most famous way in the world.

Gaga has said she is so looking forward to the occasion and the “Born This Way” singer will also be performing at Dick Clark’s 40th Annual New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest, and the Japanese program “Kohaku Uta Gassen.”
MTV will also be throwing a New Year’s Eve party of its own: “NYE in NYC 2010,” a performance-packed special featuring Demi Lovato, Mac Miller, Selena Gomez, J. Cole, Jason Derülo and more, beginning at 11 p.m. ET on New Year’s Eve from Times Square.

In Los Angeles, catch Lupe Fiasco in the Big Bank New Year’s Eve at the Kodak Theatre. Kreayshawn will be at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco.
In Miami, Rick Ross will host a New Year’s party at Cameo nightclub in South Beach. Lauryn Hill will be performing at the Shelborne Beach Resort.
John Legend, B.o.B., Brown, Mary J. Blige will all be at various venues in Las Vegas, while Drake will fly there on New Year’s Day, after a New Year’s Eve performance on New Year’s Eve with Carson Daily, with Cee Lo and The Roots.
Last year, Jay-Z and Beyonce were in Vegas, but no word on their plans at the moment and those rumors are still buzzing that Beyonce just became a new mother. If it’s true, don’t be surprised if that announcement is made public tonight. Timing is everything.
