Actor Kevin McCarthy played the Grand Inquisitor in the film “The Ghastly Love of Johnny X.” He’s the guy who exiles Johnny X to earth because Johnny is an incorrigible type of guy who is upsetting the order of his superior planet, but the film was not released before his death.
McCarthy, well known for his 1956 role as Dr. Miles Bennell in “Invasion of the Body Snatchers,” not to mention decades of TV appearances from “The Twilight Zone” to “Tales from the Crypt,” passed away on September 11, 2010 at the age of 96. His last feature film role is listed in wikipedia as Bishop Ryder in “Wesley” (2009), but that is about to change.
“The Ghastly Love of Johnny X” will debut on March 3, 2012 at the 22nd annual Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose.
In addition to featuring Kevin McCarthy, the film stars Will Keenan in the title role, Creed Bratton, De Anna Joy Brooks, Reggie Bannister, Les Williams, Jed Rowen, Kate Maberly and Paul Williams.
