Jeff Conaway Coma Ends in Death

Grease star, Jeff Conaway’s family made the decision to discontinue life support as the 60-year-old actor lay in a coma and he slipped away on May 27, 2011, according to his manager, Phil Brock, surrounded by his sisters, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his role as “Grease’s” quintessential 50s bad boy, Kenickie, Conaway was known for his stint on the sitcom “Taxi,” in the role of Bobby Wheeler, a struggling actor who works as a cab driver to survive.

Conaway’s addiction problems were well-documented on Celebrity Rehab and, according to reports, his long-term drug abuse complicated his chances for recovery. His family was advised that the 6′ 1″ actor’s weakened state was unlikely to improve and although Conaway’s ex, Victoria Spinoza a.k.a. Vikki Lizzi sought to challenge their decision to take him off life support, she was unsuccessful.

“We lost someone that we loved,” his manager said. “We tried to guide him through his struggles. We know that right now, someone in heaven is getting a hickey from Kenickie.”
