73-year-old actor, James Farentino succumbed to heart failure on Monday, January 24, 2012. Bob Palmer, a family spokesman confirmed the sad news.
He was born James Ferrantino in Brooklyn, NY in on February 24, 1938. He studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and began his career in televisions series in the 1960s, such as The Naked City, Ben Casey and Route 66. He also appeared on film and has a page on IBDB (the Internet Broadway Database) for his stage roles as Pedro in Night of the Iguana (1961-62); as Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire (1973), and as Biff in Death of a Salesman (1975).
Farentino starred in countless TV movies. He played Argentine dictator Juan Peron in a 1981 miniseries, Evita Peron. Faye Dunaway portrayed Evita. It’s pretty wild how the makeup on some of the actors, not to be disrespectful, almost make them look like they are embalmed.
Farentino is survived by his wife, Stella, and a son, David, from his marriage to actress Michele Lee.
