Harry Belafonte Disses President Obama

Legendary King of Calypso and outspoken political activist Harry Belafonte told journalists that President Barack Obama and his “mission” have failed because he and our other leaders lack moral courage and vision.

The president is “not a stand-alone,” the 84-year old Belafonte said Thursday, as he talked to the Television Critics Association about his upcoming HBO autobiographical documentary, “Sing Your Song.”

In addition to recalling Belafonte’s rise to success as the man who popularized Calypso music in America, the documentary chronicles his involvement in the civil rights movement with Dr. Martin Luther King and John F. Kennedy. It will also depict how he helped shine a spotlight on social justice among celebrities and spoke out against apartheid in South Africa.
