Gallagher family meeting

With 72 hours to vacate, Fiona tries to contact her cousin, Patrick, who owns the Gallagher homestead to find out why the house is being foreclosed on in the first place since they pay their rent. Patrick does not return her phone calls so she goes to see him in person accompanied by Sean. Patrick says he took out a $60K loan on the house and didn’t make the payment. He lays out his options: make the payments on a house where his relatives pay a cheap rent, usually late, plus they tried to frame him as a child molester, or let the bank have the house and pocket the $60K. Sean tells him to put his hammer down before he takes it off him. The much bigger Patrick says he’d like to see him do that. Fiona makes a last ditch plea about the home being in the Gallagher family for so long but Patrick won’t budge so they leave.

Sean suggests an alternative: Fiona could pick up the payments on Patrick’s loan and they go talk to the guy at the bank. It’s too late for that but Fiona could qualify for a mortgage if she is able to buy the house at the auction for $100K. She needs a $3,500 down payment. She calls family meeting. The only one with that kind of money is gun-runner Carl. Fiona thinks he is selling drugs. Ian wonders why she called a meeting when she is the one who makes all the decisions when Fiona refuses to take Carl’s cash. She feels it’s the same as saying it’s okay that he’s a criminal. Fiona decides to sell the very ring that she was going to give Gus back in the last episode. It’s worth $7K but all she gets for it is $1,900. Sean comes through to resolve her $950 shortfall, but there was no miracle at the auction for the Gallaghers this time. They were outbid despite the best efforts of Nick and Carl to intimidate higher bidders.

Lip went on a trip with Helene to a swanky hotel where she was scheduled to give a presentation that she was very excited about. Alas, it didn’t turn out well when a “gay Jesuit” informs her in front of her audience that her whole thesis has been disproved with some recently discovered Simone de Beauvoir correspondence. Now that three years worth of work on her book has gone down the toilet, a very humilated Helene gets drunk and ends up with her head in the toilet as well, with Lip holding it. In her vulnerable state, Helene tells Lip how their relationship has developed into more than the fling it started out as. The bellhop thought they were married, she claims, and asks if that’s crazy. The next day, Helene has it back together and brings up that “earnest conversation.” She tells Lip to forget it ever happened. A desk clerk comes up and asks Lip if he and his mother need a taxi.

Frank accompanied Debbie to a prenatal appointment and informed her that she needs a father figure like him, but with money, to cope with the high cost of raising a child. Fiona’s lecture fell on deaf ears and Debbie is thrilled to see her baby’s butt and head on the ultrasound. Frank later brings over a sick old man who had a tracheotomy and has 2 months to live. Like seriously, the dude was ancient and on an oxygen tank. Thanks to his operation, he can now imitate a robot and has a two bedroom rent control apartment that Debbie can inherit. She tells Frank he is insane and storms out. Later, in his capacity as “cancer concierge” (if there is such a thing), Frank finds Tyler Wexler, a father of 3. His wife, Erica, has stage 3 breast cancer. He takes Debbie over for a nanny interview. They tell Erica that Debbie is 18. Once Debbie begins to grasp Frank’s real intention for her to take over Erica’s place when she dies, she gets ready to split but Tyler comes home. He’s not an ancient troll and Debbie has second thoughts.

Other storylines:

Carl continued his pursuit of Dominique at school. She blew off the pink mink present. Nick wanted to get a bike and Carl had a fantasy of picking up Dom in a fancy car at school. He told Nick to forget the bike. They could get some wheels. Nick TALKED! He told Carl he didn’t want a car and related the story of how, after saving up his money for a year, he bought his own bike since his father wouldn’t get him one and beat him just for asking. The next day his father traded his bike for a rock. After he killed his father and locked him up in juvie, they asked Nick if he was homesick. Nick said no, he just wanted his bike. Later, they bought a bike for Dominique, too. She agreed to ride it home and to let them follow her as long as they didn’t ride too close.

Ian was all about making snicker doodles and bringing them to the fireman who saved his life. He showed up on the straight shift and had to come back the next day for the 7 a.m. gay shift. Jason takes the cookies and tells Ian he would have been okay anyway. Then he kills Ian’s crush with a photo of his husband and two kids. But another firefighter named Caleb makes Ian a smoothie and shows off a sculpture that he made. Hello! Ian asks if he can see Caleb’s studio.

The Alibi was deserted by the hipster crowd for a speakeasy. The kiss of death for the Alibi was the banner that they hung outside after being named the Sh-ttiest Bar on the Southside. V went to the Public Restroom, where Svetlana was working as a second job. You had to flush a urinal to get in. The lady who ran the joint told V that the Alibi was a goldmine but now, there’s no coming back from that banner.

Yanis had a new fate in store for the lawyer he thinks cut his brake line. He wants to burn his house down and watch while his kids come out screaming with their hair on fire. Kevin tells him that he will go away for a long time, but Yanis thinks it will be worth it. Afrer that, we really didn’t think that Kevin would tell Yanis that he was the one who cut the brake line but when Yanis took a bunch of Molotov cocktails and got ready to set fire to the lawyer’s house, Kevin broke down and confessed. Yanis turns his vengeance on Kevin but sets himself on fire in the process.

Chuckie was released from juvie and deposited at the Gallaghers, his only relatives, now that Sammi is in jail. The social worker says they are looking for a foster home. Fiona takes a sharpie to Chuckie’s forehead to turn swastika into a square.
