New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress somehow managed to shoot himself in the leg (the thigh, we heard — hope it was the fleshy part at least) at an East Side Manhattan night club last Friday.
In a written statement, the Giants said they were gathering facts about the “apparent accidental shooting,” and did not wish to make any comments on the details because the situation “could become a matter for law enforcement officials.”
What do you think they mean by that? They are checking into whether he had a permit for his gun, and if he didn’t, he could face charges.
Wonder why he went out with a loaded gun in the first place, and how it happened to go off?
Anyhow, we’re more interested in what his name means. According to Babynology.com, Plaxico is an African name meaning peaceful.
WikiAnswers has the question out there but no one has answered it yet. Plaxico Burress has stated publicly that he is named after an uncle, but doesn’t know the origin of the name. Personally, we think it has an ancient Incan or Aztec ring to it.
Here’s a video of Plaxico – he’s “The Beast”:
