Giancarlo Stanton Crushes N.L Leading 26th Homer

Last September 11th, Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton was hit in the face by a pitch from Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Mike Fiers, resulting in multiple fractures, tooth damage, and lots of bleeding. This one was one of the worst ones of this type of thing we’d ever seen.

This ended Stanton’s 2014 season. After healing up over the winter, Stanton returned to the Marlins for the 2015 season. In addition to the physical damage, such an incident can affect a player psychologically (both batters and the pitchers who throw errant pitches). So how is Stanton faring this season?

Why quite nicely, thank you. In the Marlins game in Miami against the St. Louis Cardinals on June 23rd, Stanton absolutely crushed a long home run (estimated in the 480-490 foot range) off of Cardinals starter Carlos Martinez.

Stanton leads the National League with 26 homers, and his 66 RBIs are also tops in the league. He’s having a much better season than the Marlins themselves, who lost the game 4-3 to fall to 30-42 on the season, 8 1/ games behind the Washington Nationals in the N.L. East.
