First Lady Nixes Sasha and Malia Beanies

After incurring the displeasure of First Lady Michelle Obama by hijacking her daughters’ name for 2 new beanie babies, Ty Inc. has renamed the dolls. “Marvelous Malia” and “Sweet Sasha” are now “Marvelous Mariah” and “Sweet Sydney.”

According to Chief Executive Ty Warner of Ty Inc. , “this historic time in our nation’s history” inspired the dolls which were not intended to bear the likeness of President Barack Obama’s daughters.

Oh OK, of course.

Who’s kidding who here?

Anyhow, after Mrs. Obama said she found the use of her daughters’ names to be inappropriate since they are private citizens, the company felt it would be better to change the names. Profits from sales of the Sasha and Malia dolls already sold will be donated to charity.

If you already bought these dolls but haven’t opened them yet, don’t.

Once you do, they will lose their value as collector’s items.
