There were no triple solves and no triple stumpers this week. The easiest for many was Friday’s clue, but we liked Monday and Thursday, with Monday being the easiest of those two. Why? Because the category was narrowed down to “Europe,” whereas Thursday’s was “Nations of the World.” You had to know something about French history to get Tuesday’s clue and Alex couldn’t help them out with his stellar French accent because it’s États-Généraux en français.

Jeopardy! champs for the week of March 6

Alison Maguire-Powell won Monday’s game, sending 4x champ Rob Liguori home. On Tuesday, Alison lost to Todd Defilippi. He was defeated by Annie Marggraf on Wednesday. Annie won again on Thursday with $31,200, the week’s highest jackpot, but she lost on Friday to Jessica Johnston.

Hip Jeopardy: Head Jeopardy! cluewriter, Billy Wisse, gave Spin some insight about the recent Rap & R&B lyrics categories. The show doesn’t really do that to get the viral attention it’s been getting. He says: “Alex has a certain personality and 99 percent of the time we stick to that personality and the tone of the show.” The other one percent?– “sometimes it’s fun to go against it a little bit… we try to get some things that sound a little bit goofy coming out of Alex’s mouth.” But they have no plans to “go to this well too often.”
