This week we had no triple solves and only 4 correct answers out of 14 who participated in Final Jeopardy! because one teacher finished in the red on Wednesday. Alex Trebek explained in Thursday’s game that the teachers who went home are each getting $5,000.

Funniest part of the chats: I nominate Jay Singleton’s game “Bacon Bits” from Friday. He connects movie actors and actresses to Kevin Bacon in 3 movies or less. He then proceeded to connect Alex Trebek: Alex was in “White Men Can’t Jump” with Woody Harrelson, who was in “The Hunger Games” with Donald Sutherland, who was in “JFK” with Kevin Bacon. “Thank you for including me in that threesome,” Alex said.

8 Letter Words

I’m not too lazy to make an image of the players moving forward into the semi-finals this week– I just don’t see the point when Jeopardy.com already has a page with all that info, including the players’ scores and it is also on Friday’s recap. They will all go back to zero at the start of next week! But here is a clue from the “8-Letter Words” category yesterday. Another mystery! There is the symbol right in front of their eyes, and this happened:

Adam said “what is an abbreviation?”
Jay said “what is ampersand?”

“Pay attention to the clues,” Alex said. (And the categories!)

VJ – Just got a chance to look at this recap. That image of the 8-letter word clue is indeed memorable——and funny! To me that image represents “just another day at work.”

FYI, I work for a non-profit, in 2 different programs——one feeds the poor and the other helps homeless people find jobs and rebuild their lives. So in dealing with the public, all day long the sentence I utter most often is “pay attention (can’t you see that asterix just in front of you?)”

I’ve come to the conclusion that a large portion of the population, poor or not, educated or not, just suffer from “inattention blindness.” 🙂
