The Final Jeopardy question (9/21/2016) in the category “College Disciplines” was:

Embracing the future & new technology in 1962, Purdue established the 1st college dept. in the U.S. For this 2-word discipline.

2x champ Seth Wilson has an impressive $61,000 total so far. Can he add to that today or will one of these players prevail: Sharren Lee Gibbs, from Gainesville, FL; and Sala Levin, from Washington, D.C.?

WHAT IS COMPUTER SCIENCE?

Sharren didn’t have a response. She lost her $10,000 bet and had $400 left.

Sala thought it was Digital Communications. That cost her $7,000. She finished with $3,800.

Seth got it right. He bet $10,000 today so he won this match with $22,800. His 3-day total is $83,800 and we have our first 3-day champ. Go Seth!

Man, this guy is tearing it up! If he wins around three more, he’ll probably remind me a little bit of Ken Jennings!

  2. VJ says:

There were only 4 triple stumpers in this game. The other 2 are over here, as well as the clues in the 2016 Minutes of Fame and Recent Bestselling Books categories

A very good match. I really liked Sharren and was rooting for her. However, Seth earned his 3rd win big time.

Congrats Seth on becoming a 3x champ. VJ, does he go on the TOC list now?

I like that Monday he came from 2nd place, wagered it all in fj, and won the game. So much for conventional wisdom. 🙂 He wagered it all on fj yesterday and won also. Today he held on to a few dollars in fj and won again.

    • VJ says:

Yes, Jacob, this puts Seth second right behind 3x winner Philip Tiu ($96,598) and knocks Laurie MacDougall ($78,000) down to the third highest 3x winner. But let’s see if Seth wins some more. I’ll put him on there when his run is over.

I am hoping he wins tomorrow at least, if not tomorrow and Friday. But I have to say that he seemed a bit stressed out today, esp when the ladies starting closing in on his lead

      • jacob ska says:

VJ, I agree on the stress level. He had a higher number of incorrect responses than the ladies. They definitely put the pressure on him.

If he keeps depending on fj with his big wagers he may meet his Waterloo. We shall see what tomorrow brings.
