WHAT IS THE BOEING 747?

On January 15, 1970, a Pan Am Boeing 747 named Clipper Young America at Dulles International was christened by then First Lady, Pat Nixon: “Instead of champagne, red, white and blue water was sprayed on the aircraft.” The plane was scheduled to make the first 747 commercial flight across the Atlantic a week later, but due to technical difficulties, the plane that actually made the flight was not the one Mrs. Nixon christened.

Per the Airloom Project: “Clipper Victor was renamed Clipper Young America (tail number N736PA) and was the first Boeing 747 to make a commercial flight, flying from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport to London Heathrow Airport, after the planned aircraft (N733PA), originally also named Clipper Young America) developed a mechanical problem. In its first year of service, N736PA also became the first 747 to be hijacked, when it was flown to Cuba on August 2, 1970. Following this incident, the aircraft’s name was changed back to Clipper Victor.”

Emily thought it was a satellite. She lost her $3,999 bet and had $2,001 left.

Jon got it right. He doubled his money to $26,800.

Trevor came up with Air Force One. He lost $2,400, landing him in second place with $22,200. So Jon remained the Jeopardy! champ with a 2-day total of $45,100.

Jon’s match today was very similar to Alan Lin’s second match back in april of 2017 when he dodged a bullet, missed final jeopardy, and won. Congrats to Jon. Also VJ, have you and your family ever rode on boeing 747s in the past say around the early 2000s or the late 90s when you travel? My first time riding boeing was in 2002 from chicago to beijing. But Im surprised that emily came up with a satellite? Really? satellites were not introduced at that time.

@Lou, in Alan Lin’s second match, no one got it FJ, though. Jon wouldn’t have won today if he missed it so kudos to him for being the only one to do so.

Yes, Kudos to Jon for his win. But there were a couple of other matchs like take John Schultz for example, he also missed final jeopardy, was it in his second or third game? And Same with Seth Wilson and Tim Aten, they missed a few and won the reserve amounts. Oh yes that final jeopardy on fonts was the match where Tim responded with Italics, VJ?

        • VJ says:

@Lou, you have a better memory for the players than I do. I mostly remember past clues when one that is similar comes up. Remembering who was in the game and what they responded… that’s pretty iffy for me. .

Emily was up and down couldn’t get any rhythm going in the game. Did you figure out when is the Tournament of champions?

    Jon dodged a bullet there!
