“Sylvester Stallone’s supporting actor nom for his portrayal of Rocky Balboa in Creed, 39 years after his lead actor nom for his portrayal of the same character in Rocky, sets a record for most years between nominations for portrayals of the same character; the record previously belonged to Paul Newman, who received a best actor nom for his portrayal of “Fast Eddie” Felson in The Hustler (1961) and won for his portrayal of the same character 25 years later in The Color of Money (1986). Only four others received multiple noms for playing the same character: Bing Crosby for Father O’Malley, Peter O’Toole for King Henry II, Al Pacino for Michael Corleone and Cate Blanchett for Queen Elizabeth II.” (The Hollywood Reporter)

This show aired on Johnny Gilbert’s birthday. Perhaps they should have done a clue in the top box like this: This popular game show announcer hosted Music Bingo in the 50s and Fast Draw in the 60s. THey did a clue like that when referencing the first edition of the book the Encyclopedia of TV Game Shows, back in the late 80s when the first edition of that book came out

The Chris Hardwick clue should have mentioned Singled Out, as that’s a memorable show to people of a certain age, it made a star out of Jenny Mccarthy and to a smaller degree Carmen Electra

Glad that Terry got final right despite the daily double not paying off for him. I remember Stallone was in guardians of the galaxy volume 2 and that was epic. VJ, do you remember if Stallone had a famous quote he used in the rocky movies?

    • VJ says:

@Lou, I guess the one quote everyone remembers most from the “Rocky” movies is the one Alex said after he saw Terry’s answer: “Yo, Adrian!” Sometimes, we still do a Stallone impression of “Absolutely” around here.

What a very bizarre finish to the DJ! round.
