WHAT IS “M*A*S*H”?

“One of the earlier military helicopters, the Bell H-13 Sioux was a light helicopter whose design was developed from the Bell 47. It was used mainly as an observational aircraft in the early part of the Vietnam War and more recently gained fame when a late-model variant (Bell 47G) appeared in the television series M*A*S*H.” (Armed Forces History Museum)

RotaryAction.com has an extensive guide to helicopters in cinema & television. They even have a list of Helicopter Movie Cliches, like “”In the movies a stolen helicopter only ever carries two minutes of aviation fuel…”

Malavika got it right. She bet $7,000 and finished with $15,200.

Robert wrote down “Emergency.” That cost him $14,500 and left him with $100.

“Now we come to our champion,” said Trebek, “He is a navy helicopter pilot.” Stew got it right and bet $14,401. He won this match with $29,201. That makes his 2-day total $42,601.

    Seems like a very easy fj. But maybe that is because i have watched the show.

    All of the contestants must be iPhone owners. After that Android Marshmallow ts it made me think that none of them own a Samsung Phone.

    Congrats Stew. I’m trying to figure out why Alex feels compelled to state a contestant’s occupation when a clue is in that person’s wheelhouse. Stew told us yesterday, on the show, that he flew helicopters in the navy. So what’s new Alex?

    • VJ says:

      LOL! I was trying to figure out why Alex felt compelled to say Malavika’s name over and over. He kept saying it as if it’s an Italian name.

      When I was doing today’s clue post, I found out that the 1828 Webster’s Dictionary is online.

    • Alfred Robert Hogan, M.A. says:

      Plenty of viewers today did not watch on Monday. As a longtime journalist at CBC Alex Trebek was providing helpful context information–even for those who did see Monday program and did not memorize what this war guy does.

        Stew mentioned again on today’s show during the chat that he was a helicopter pilot. I was thinking after Stew missed the “aeronautics” clue Alex may have been wondering out loud if he might miss fj too.

      I don’t recall if they mentioned Stew and a helicopter yesterday, but he was introduced today as just a navy pilot, in the beginning of the show and in the beginning of the chat

      Just think, he could have said I love saying your name, Stew. It makes me hungry.

      • jacob ska says:

        @Mimsy. lol

      • VJ says:

        @mimsy, lol seconded.

        I used to know a big guy named Robert. Some people always called him Ro-Bear. He wasn’t French, just big like a bear, and he wasn’t as big as today’s Robert though.

      • SG says:

        @Mimsy – during Stew’s first appearance in the interview section he said he was a helicopter pilot.
