Today’s Final Jeopardy question (6/22/2015), in the category “The Future of Television” was:
This live-action TV show about a family debuted in 1965 and was set in 1997.
Current champ Brennan Bushee won 5 games last week and racked up $126,404 in winnings. Will he take that home today or add to it? Let’s see how he makes out against these challengers: Sacha Samotin, from Naples FL; and Kay Yung, from San Diego, CA
Round 1: Brennan found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “Bible ‘B’ Boys” under the $1,000 clue. He was in the lead with $1,400, $800 ahead of Kay in second place. He made it a true Daily Double and he was RIGHT.

Brennan finished in the lead with $5,600. Sacha was second with $3,000 and Kay was last with $2,000.
Round 2: Brennan found the first Daily Double in “Play into Film” under the $1.600 clue. He was in the lead with $12,000, $6,800 more than Kay in second place. He bet $3.000 and did not know so he was WRONG.

Kay found the last Daily Double in “Human Endeavor” under the $1,600 clue. In second place with $7,200, she had $3,000 less than Brennan’s lead. She bet $5,000 and she was RIGHT.
His 1753 work “Species Plantarum” provided binomial names for all known species of plants. show
Kay finished in the lead with $16.200. Brennan was next with $11,800 and Sacha was in third place with $9,800.

“Lost in Space” was a science fiction television series produced by Irwin Allen for broadcast on CBS. The show featured Guy Williams, June Lockhart, Angela Cartwright and Bill Mumy as the Robinson family and Jonathan Harris as Dr. Zachary Smith. Bob May played The Robot who always warned Will Robinson of danger in a voice dubbed by the series narrator, Dick Tufeld. The show ran for three seasons, with 83 episodes airing between 9/15/1965 and 3/6/1968.
In the 1/11/1991, they had a “Television” category in the first round. The first 4 clues were about the 4 of the “Lost in Space” actors, and the 5th wanted to know what they all starred in together.
Sacha got it right. He bet it all and finished with $19,600.
Brennan also got it right. He bet $5,000, earning him an Alex Trebek boo hiss. He finished with $16,800.
Kay thought it was “The Jetsons”, an animated series. She didn’t bet anything and landed in third place. So Sacha Samotin is the new Jeopardy! champ.
During the chat, Sacha explained how he had to memorize an amazing amount of information when he was a congressional page in his junior year of high school. He had to learn all the congressmen by name, photo, district, and more. Trebek not only wanted to know if he still remembered all that information, he tested him. Sacha passed with flying colors.

There’s no explanation. He simply blew it. Maybe he was tired and wanted to go home. 🙂
I also don’t understand why Alex felt the need to ask Kay for the correct answer on Brennan’s missed DD. That was just wrong.
yeah, that came off badly, at least on TV. Maybe there was more to it than we were seeing, like he knew she was frustrated or something. That would account for his remarks when she got her DD right at any rate.
Oh well, I expected Brennan to win a sixth game. Sacha did the right thing. But Brennan and Kay made really stupid wagers. I am in shock that Brennan didn’t risk enough. Boo hiss indeed.
