WHAT IS MALTA?

St. Paul’s travels around the Mediterranean appear in Acts of the Apostles in the New Testament. The accounts of the shipwreck that occurred at Malta and Paul’s 3-month stay on the island are detailed in Chapter 27 and Chapter 28. St. Paul is the patron saint of Malta. The Feast of St. Paul’s Shipwreck is a national holiday in Malta, celebrated every February 10th and a statue of St. Paul accompanies the procession around Valletta.

The statue shown to the players is located at St. Paul’s Grotto in Rabat, where according to tradition, the Apostle took refuge in a cave. The Times of Malta very recently reported on the statue on St Paul’s Island where the shipwreck occurred. It is being repaired after getting rather weather-beaten itself over the past year.

Kathryn wrote down Tarsus (where Paul originally came from, not an island). She didn’t bet anything and remained at $600.

Kyle got it right. He risked $512 and finished with $9,512.

Darren wrote down Cyprus (Paul hung out there, too. Acts 13). He lost his $4,600 bet and won this match with $25,800. His 2-day total is $47,800.

Thanks Jacob. Yes, that was some game for Darren. All the DDs right, was kind of hoping he wouldn’t risk anything and keep his $30K
