TWO of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.

WHAT IS THE UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA?

A 1902 UVA Alumni Bulletin related that enrollment increased dramatically in the 1850s “reaching 645 in 1857 and remaining above 600 until the outbreak of the civil war. The University was kept open during the war but the number of students dwindled to 46 in 1862-63. After the return of peace the number averaged about 420 until 1871…”

Also see: A Jan. 3, 1863 letter Socrates Maupin, chairman of the university’s faculty, wrote to Confederate Secretary of War James Seddon, seeking exemptions for the less than 10 students who became subject to conscription that year. (Exemptions were denied but the students were granted furlough until the end of the school year).

Rand got it right. He bet $900 and finished with $11,900.

Kerry also got it. Her $1,000 bet brought her up to $14,000.

Jon thought it was Annapolis. He lost his $8,001 bet, leaving him with $9,999. That made Kerry the new Jeopardy! champ.

Did Rand tell Kerry how much to wager?

Ah well. Just when the FJ music stopped, you could see Jon give a little negative shake of his head so I didn’t think he got it. I didn’t think he bet low either because I thought he was confident in war history clues.

Well, congrats to him anyway on the $76+ he won in his 3 games and congrats to Kerry on today’s win. And congrats to me on finally getting a prediction right. lol

I enjoyed Jon’s games. He had a good sense of humor and a merry twinkle in his eye. How about when he got the Hollaback Girl clue today? lol He laughed outright.
