WHO IS ANTHONY KENNEDY?

A Feb 2016 article about Justice Scalia says after Reagan nominated Scalia in 1986, he “took his seat on Sept. 26, 1986. He served on the high court until his death, bringing his tenure to 30 years [29 yr 4 mo] and making him the longest serving Supreme Court justice to sit on the current bench. Previously, the title was held by Justice John Paul Stevens, who was nominated to the Supreme Court by President Gerald Ford and served from December 1975 until his retirement… in June 2010. The longest serving Supreme Court Justice on the bench is now Anthony Kennedy. Kennedy was nominated to the bench by Reagan in 1988.” Also, see CNN’s Anthony Kennedy Fast Facts

Greenpapers.com has a table showing the tenure of each Justice (as of 4/2016).

Kate wrote down “Souter.” She lost her $5,000 bet and finished with $200.

Jonathan got it right. His $6,000 bet brought him up to $14,800.

Louie also got it right. He bet $399 and finished with $18,399. Today we are showing you the prizes because it was the first time this week that second place won more than the $10K guarantee.

None attempt to answer many easy questions. I expect more of people who work with the news.

    • VJ says:

Oh, it was a big improvement over yesterday. There were only 7 clues all 3 of them blanked out on. I didn’t get Rush Limbaugh’s birthplace either though I know I have read it before

  3. Marilyn Ahrenhoerster says:

If Scalia was on Supreme Court from September, 1986 until his death in February, 2016, that is not 30 years. It annoys me when people play games with numbers.

    • VJ says:

@Marilyn I’ll put a bracket in there for you that to show 29.4 like the table 🙂

      • Marilyn Ahrenhoerster says:

        I wasn’t blaming you, VJ.

        • VJ says:

I know Marilyn, but I don’t want you to be annoyed. I did notice the rounding off but figured close enough. LOL!!

    • jacob ska says:

Marilyn, you are correct. The Wall Street Journal and more credible media write “nearly 30 years” when referring to Scalia.

It reminds me of my grandfather who died one month short of his 104th birthday. The family always said “he was 103 when he died one month shy of 104.” As a kid I kept trying to figure out why they needed to get that 104 in there.

In the first round, they did go looking for that Daily Double after Alex said time was running out– they just didn’t find it. One of the 4 clues they got to was a triple stumper, then some extra time was wasted when Kate missed the answer on this clue: “You dilute a solution by watering it down; you do this to your pupils, 1 letter different, by making them expand.” Louie CK got it and she said “Kate Bolduan’s an idiot for $500.” idk if Alex heard what she really said. He said: “No, you don’t have control of the board right now. I’m all for women’s lib but you’re pushing it a little too far, Kate.”
