WHO ARE NAT “KING” COLE AND NATALIE COLE?

“Unforgettable — that’s what the 34th Annual GRAMMY Awards show at Radio City Music Hall in New York was. Natalie Cole’s salute to the music of her legendary father Nat “King” Cole was remembered with many awards — winning Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best Traditional Pop Performance, Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocals, Best Engineered Album — Non-Classical, while her producer David Foster took home the GRAMMY for Producer Of The Year (Non-Classical)….” (34th Annual Grammy Awards)

Nat King Cole’s 1959 Grammy was for “Midnight Flyer” (Best Performance By a “Top 40” Artist). Natalie Cole’s 3 Grammys in the 1970s were for Best New Artist (1976), “This Will Be” (Best R&B Vocal, Female, 1976), and “Sophisticated Lady” (Best R&B Vocal, Female, 1977)

Jan got it right. Her $7,398 bet brought her up to $14,798.

Kerry also got it right. She bet $18,498 and finished with $36,998.

Evan wrote down Elvis and Lisa Marie Presley. He lost $14,500 so he ended up with $8,100.

So! Kerry remains champ and today’s hefty payday gives her a 5-day total $126,598.

What I’m thinking is, Kerry’s date on the Hometown HOwdy said “Thursday,” meaning that is when her streak is ended. Am I right?

    • VJ says:

An observation many made but no one spilled — until now. A spoiler alert is on the howdies so people can decide for themselves if they want to watch it.

Personally I wish J! would stop doing that with the Howdies.

      • Cece says:

Yeah, now it ruined the surprise!

Anyway, Kerry rules! And again, a fast paced game. There have been a few very good players lately — a good sign.

        • VJ says:

Yes, indeed, she’s had some really tough competition! I think she thought this match was going to be her swan song for sure –but her lucky charm came through again!

        • Cece says:

Now I know when her swan is gonna sing.

I loved the way Evan was dressed. I guess the word used by old timers is “dapper.”

BTW, I took a wild guess at fj ’cause there was the only F & D performers I could think of. Maybe it had to do with that picture of him you posted yesterday, lol.

Hank and Hank Williams Jr. did a duet together in 1989 called There’s a Tear in my Beer. It was done before Unforgettable.

    • jacob ska says:

@aaaa, you surprise me. The category is “celebrity fathers and daughters.” Hank Williams Jr.? To my recollection that’s celebrity father and son.

  3. jacob ska says:

From 7/27/2004 game VJ had Nat King Cole’s picture on spoiler talk yesterday Monday April 6 2015. She and I were discussing him yesterday on Spoiler Talk.

VJ I’m beginning to believe that you are psychic. 🙂 🙂

  4. jacob ska says:

That was a a technological breakthrough in 1991 when Natalie Cole recorded the song along with her deceased father’s voice.

Today that is considered normal. It’s done so frequently. How times change! Technology waits on no one.

    • VJ says:

Elvis and Lisa did cross my mind when we were talking about possible wrong answers, but I didn’t think anyone would think she ever won a Grammy, let alone 3. Most of all, she was just a kid in the 1970s.

Strangely enough, the Sinatras’ duet is the only one that made Billboard’s List of Top 40 Duets of All Time. LOL.

  5. jacob ska says:

Congrats vj on your 2 correct predictions for fj. You also said Kerry would get it and she did.

Kerry is on a roll. Congrats Kerry.

  6. TR says:

3 days in a row the champ skates by in FJ after going in trailing…can I get a nice runaway tomorrow? Pretty please?

    • Leena says:

If the luck of the spoilers come this week, your dead meat. Sawry

    • jacob ska says:

TR what are you complaining about? The game is not over until fj. Many contestants have led going into Final Jeopardy but end up in third place when it’s all over.

Kerry was in 2nd place going into fj and was behind by only $4100. I guess her $36998 win today escaped your eyes as well as her 5-day $126598 total which is a TOC entry guaranteed. 🙂 🙂
