Final Jeopardy: Literary Characters (4-29-16)

The Final Jeopardy question (4/29/2016) in the category “Literary Characters” was:

In 1929 London’s Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital was given all rights to this character created 27 years earlier.

4x champ Buzzy Cohen has now won $78,601 yesterday. Today he takes on these two players: Tal Nadan, from Bronx, NY; and Sanjiv Sarwate, from Round Rock, TX.

Buzzy brushed off both his shoulders in today’s intro. Alex Trebek acknowledged that and revealed that, in yesterday’s after-show chat, Buzzy said he just had his “Slumdog Millionaire” moment when yesterday’s FJ was a breeze for him: he once worked in the Caribbean islands!

WHO IS PETER PAN?

On its charity site, the Great Ormond Street Hospital says: “J M Barrie gave all the rights to Peter Pan to Great Ormond Street Hospital in 1929, and this was later confirmed when he died in 1937. Since then the hospital has received royalties every time a production of the play is put on, as well as from the sale of Peter Pan books and other products…. Barrie requested that the amount raised from Peter Pan should never be revealed, and the hospital has always honoured his wishes.”

Many more questions are answered on their FAQ page. It includes a section on Disney, its exclusive animation rights and its spinoffs.

Sanjiv got it right. He bet $5,601 and finished with $11,401.

Tal started out with Orphan Annie, then went with Madeline. She lost her $5,000 bet and was left with $6,400.

Buzzy got it right, too. He bet $10,001 bet, winning his 5th match with $22,801. His 5-day total is $101,402. Whew! What a tense game that was! The only bad news is that we won’t be seeing Buzzy again till May 23. He gets 3 weeks off to tool around L.A. in “Buttercup”, his 1966 Dodge Dart station wagon, while we watch the Teachers Tournament and Power Players Week.

I wonder if Buzzy will use the “Buttercup” song for one of his ads?

@Rhonda and Cece, definitely think it’s the “proud of myself” shoulder gesture now.

    Yay, Buzzy.

I’ve got the But Let’s Face It category up plus two more triple stumpers (that had images too)

Thanks VJ and Rhonda; I learned something new—that when people brush their shoulders it doesn’t always mean they have dandruff, lol.

Wow, another 5-day champ. It was a little touch-and-go for a while, Buzzy missed 3 DD’s, forgetting the “C” in one of them. But he arrived. Way to go, Buzzy!

I hope when he comes back he really will be rested and it will be like his first game when he won $33,601. BuzzySaw
