WHO IS HERMAN MELVILLE?

“Leviathan: A Journal of Melville Studies” was created in 1999 by John Bryant, a member of the Melville Society Advisory Board. On their website, they say: “We welcome articles, notes, reviews, and creative writing on, or inspired by, the life, works, and influence of novelist and poet Herman Melville (1819-1891).” You need to be a scholar, a critic or a pedagogue, though.

Maren thought it was Mark Twain. She bet everything but a dollar.

Pat got it right. Her $6,501 bet brought her up to $14,201.

Greg wrote down Thomas Hobbes. He lost his $1,000 bet, winning the match with $16,200, and Greg is the new Jeopardy! champ.

Call me Ishmael, one of my favorite quotes from Moby Dick. and one of my favorite books. But still the tournament of champions has made the game tougher for the newcomers nowadays. We only have had one multi game champion each month just like last year and this year is similar to 2016.

I do believe that when Maren got that last DD, it was the first time I ever heard Alex Trebek tell a player you’re not a major threat. Geez!

Blame all the tournament of champions games for that.

It seems like there’s been a string of players who threw away a chance to win on the last clue lately, too.
