WHO IS JAMES OGLETHORPE?

It was Oglethorpe’s “work on the Prison Discipline Committee that brought him in contact with the idea of creating a colony of debtors in the New World. Proposed by a number of writers and in at least one book, the concept gained some acceptance before Oglethorpe became a driving force in the group in 1728. A group of 21 men, including Oglethorpe and Lord Percival, created a charter for the new colony named Georgia (in honor of King George II)…. Oglethorpe used his connections to move the Charter for the colony of Georgia quickly to the king, who signed it on June 9, 1732. (Our Georgia History)

The U.S. Post Office issued a bicentennial stamp in Oglethorpe’s honor in 1933. Face value: 3 cents.

Joe wrote down William Penn, who died in 1718. He bet and lost it all.

Valerie thought it was Sir Walter Raleigh, likewise deceased (1618). She lost her $1,000 bet, finishing with $4,800.

Lisa got it right. Her $1,000 bet brought her up to a winning total today of $15,400 and a 2-day total of $43,000.

@Jacob, no I don’t recall ever seeing 2 stay-at-home parents on the show. Alex’s quip that they “let them out” was funny.

@Lou, look at that link to the 9 more clues in my first comment for the other 2 clues that were missed in that new Brunswick category. (I’ve got a cool link on the $2000 one. Looks like a great place to visit)

No one buzzed in on the $800 clue. Joe buzzed in on the $2000 clue but he gave a wrong response and Lisa and Valerie did not buzz in. So it’s not the same as the reversal, where Joe’s answer was accepted at first, and Lisa and Valerie never got a crack at the clue at all.

I see, but still I love to visit that location that you mentioned. And congrats to Lisa on her runaway Just hope that she will continue the win without any more leader curses

As soon I saw the Canine category I guessed that one of the clues would be about Marmaduke. He pops up a lot on Jeopardy.

Surprised at the ts on itch relief.

VJ, do you recall ever seeing 2 stay-at-home parents on the same Jeopardy show? What a coincidence!

Congrats to the returning champ on her runaway game.

And a great play today by all the contestants. Just hope that Lisa will continue to build her winnings tomorrow night. also there were two reversals in double jeopardy but who got the second one in the New Brunswick category?

  4. VJ says:

I felt bad for Joe on that reversal. I guess Alex thought he was consoling Joe after he got the DD right by telling him he had “almost as much” as he had before the reversal. Ouch! It’s moments like those that I’m glad I have no desire to be on the show, esp with the way I say some things (and my precious child never ceases to enjoy poking fun at me over them).

One time they had a clue about the Battle of Monmouth, and Alex said Mon-muth. I guess that’s the official way to say it but where I come from everybody ignored that “n” and just said Mom-muth (talking about the beach or the county).
