New champ Blair Moorhead won $17,402 yesterday. In her second game, she takes on these two players: Libby Hunt, from Dallas, TX; and Colby Taylor, from Olive Branch, MS.

Colby found the first Daily Double in “11-Letter Words” under the $1,600 clue, with 9 clues still to go after it. He was in the lead with $20,000 at this point, $11,400 more than Blair in second place. “You could risk it all,” Alex helpfully suggested. Colby shook his head and bet $3,000. WHAT IS “YELLOW SUBMARINE”?

Ultimate Classic Rock has a list of the Top 10 Ringo Starr Beatles Songs. “Yellow Submarine” (1966) is No. 1: “Lennon and (mostly) McCartney wrote it, it was the only Starr song on the groundbreaking ‘Revolver’ album and it was the only single Starr sang lead on that reached the Top 5 (it stalled at No. 2)….” There were actually 11 Beatles songs that Ringo sang lead vocals on, so the other one does get mentioned in the intro.

They also have a list of Top 10 Ringo Starr Solo Songs.

Libby thought it was “Get Back.” She lost her $7,398 bet, leaving her with 2 bucks.

Blair got it right. Her $4,201 bet brought her up to $14,801.

Colby came up with “Hey Jude.” He lost $1,401 and won the match with the $18,399 he had left. Now Colby is the new Jeopardy! champ.

However, the question did not specifically state US charts, Yellow Submarine reached #1 and held onto #1 on the UK charts for several weeks and that is why it is included on the “1” CD!

    • VJ says:

You’re right, Karen. They should have added “in the USA” to the clue, though I don’t think it would have made any difference in the responses.

  2. VJ says:

Well, yesterday not betting enough cost Joe the game and Blair was the beneficiary of that. Just because of that alone, I was really surprised she didn’t consciously avoid that pitfall today.

    • VJ says:

Yes, Lou, Ringo was Mr. Conductor and then, a bit later, I think George Carlin took over the role

Blair would have won this game if she wagered high enough, $7800 or more. 43/61

    Simply baffling.

And that means the streak for a leader who missed the Final puts it at 11 straight games. And we have yet to have a leader who gets the Final right for the first time in 2017.

Hey Jude should’ve been the correct answer.
