We were doing quite a bit of channel flicking tonight at least for a little while because coverage on Michael Jackson was all over, then there was a big thunderstorm that knocked out the cable on one TV so we had to run in and turn on the other one, so please forgive the spotty report.
We tuned to CNN to see what Anderson Cooper was doing and sho’ nuff, he was probing anyone and everyone to find out why such a kind, gentle creative genius as MJ came to such a sorry end.
It’s blame time, you know, so first they were looking to blame the doctor, Dr. Murray, for performing CPR on the bed. Then we had Joe Jackson getting the heat for not being prostrate with grief and promoting his record company. The arrogance of telling anyone how they should behave, but especially Joe Jackson, is just hilarious. If he was crying all over the place, people would be saying he’s such a phony. Al Sharpton showed up as consultant for when the public grief-o-meter isn’t reaching satisfactory levels. Anderson Cooper said they were getting a “lot of angry emails” over Joe Jackson’s behavior. Sharpton did his best to explain the conflicts this situation presents though we would have told Anderson to butt out. (pun intended)
One of Michael Jackson’s defense attorneys showed up, some dude with long gray hair, who never saw any indication of drug use. We’re not sure if this was before or after Deepak Chopra, and we’re not watching it over to find out!
But before we tell you why we gave Deepak the duncecap, first a shout-out to Ann Lander’s daughter, Margo Howard, who was also watching CNN in Paris. (Is it us, or is Margo blaming Jackson’s friends?)
In a nutshell, Deepak said he doesn’t blame Michael Jackson and he proceeded to elaborate upon all the things that made Michael a victim:
“He made himself unavailable frequently to people who really cared about him, including his own family, which really cared about him. And then he would make himself available to enablers, but that’s very characteristic of this disease. You know, I don’t really blame Michael for anything. He was the victim of circumstances, he was the victim of his own body image, he was the victim of the media frenzy around him and he was the victim of enablers.”
Such horseshit from a guy who has this on his website: “Taking responsibility for your feelings, you can also gain the power to make the pain melt away.”
Guess he meant, take responsibility — unless you’re Michael Jackson.
