Dallas: Let Me In Recap

In the wake of terrible tragedy, the Ewings find themselves up against a conspiracy to cover up the two explosions on the rig in “Let Me In” (Season 2, Episode 11 – 4/1/2012). TESHA wants to blame it all on Christopher Ewing. And if that doesn’t suck enough, they’re being fined a billion dollars. Word! We knew they were loaded but not that loaded.

Pamela and Christopher grapple with the grief and desolation of losing their babies, but that doesn’t prevent Christopher from suggesting to John Ross that he go over and get the goods on Cliff under the guise of caring about Pamela’s welfare. John Ross had previously checked by telephone on Pamela, who claimed her mother was taking good care of her but failed to chuckle at his “I’m sexy and I know it” jokes. When he swaggers (John Ross doesn’t walk, he swaggers) into her apartment, he can’t find either Afton or Pamela but sees some medicine bottles on a table. Then he spies Pamela out on the balcony all by herself, just staring off into space. While helping her get herself together, he manages to swipe some important info off her computer. No use wondering why Pamela doesn’t lock her door or why her computer doesn’t need a password, is there? Before he leaves, he says there’s something she needs to know about the accident and presumably tells her about the two explosions. Christopher also pays Pamela a visit later and she begs him and John Ross to make whoever did it pay. So we know they didn’t tell her they suspect Cliff or she probably would have taken all those pills by now or went out and hunted her daddy down.

At the TESHA meeting, the Ewings get their heads handed to them on a silver platter. The two Ewing scions cry foul and bullshit loudly. and it was really kind of comical. We know that they have to expose the reasoning and thought processes of the Ewing clan, but really? With all the double-crossing stuff that has gone down on both sides over the years, you would think these folks would know by now their enemies are behind every bad thing that happens to them. These folks are either slow or have serious memory lapses. Christopher goes berserk and hits the security guard called to escort him out of the building. Elena has to come to his rescue and the thanks she gets is an attack. Christopher says she never wanted the twins. That got him a well-deserved smack in the face. Another silly aspect was how Christopher stands to inherit Pam’s share of Rebecca Wentworth’s estate if it turns out she is dead. They acted like that was a Eureka moment. They don’t even consider that Pamela may have remarried and adopted some more kids. Supposedly she couldn’t have children, but maybe a miracle occurred and Christopher has an Arabian sibling or two. Also, if she remarried, her husband’s claim to her assets would be greater than a child’s.

Stalking Emma, Harris Ryland pulls up in a clearing just where she trotted her little horse. The purpose of his visit is to inform Emma that Drew Ramos is a bad boy. Emma already knows that. Harris wants her to stay away from Drew. Strike that. Harris orders her to stay away from Drew. This of course sends foolish little Emma running off to Drew, although she should have known that would end badly for Drew. Unaware of this dire threat to his well-being, Drew is placing some tiny stones on his Papi’s grave when Emma finds him and he explains that they represent the loss of Christopher’s babies. Drew tells her how his father died and talks about the explosion some too. He says “It was my fault.” We thought he was ‘fessing up there, but Emma thought he meant his father’s death. She wanted to go on a date and kissed him deeply while that Roy guy watched them from a distance and reported back to Harris. Drew was later bopped on the head and kidnapped by thugs while on his way to the date.

Waiting at the cocktail lounge, Emma gets a strange text that Drew isn’t going to show up. He’s got a better offer. Emma takes up with the older man at the bar who had been giving her the eye. Sue Ellen just happens to be there meeting with Ken Richards. After warning Richards to make sure he’s on the right side in the coming war, Sue Ellen spies Emma acting the drunken slut. When Emma leaves with the man, Harris pull up and orders her to get in the car. Harris drives her to where Drew is, beaten to a pulp, but before he shows her that terrible sight, he recounts how she almost got herself killed by a horse when she was little by not listening to him. Emma’s spirit is just crushed. She goes home and stays in her room. When Sue Ellen tells Ann what she saw her little darling up to in the lounge, Ann is all like “oh, no! not my baby!” Sue Ellen reminds her that Emma’s entire life is, to paraphrase a quote from the Legend of Zelda, a mystery to everybody.

Carlos Del Sol brings a woman who saw J.R. the night he died to meet with Bobby. Rhonda is only able to confirm that she has seen Harris Ryland before. He is somehow mixed up with the Mexican drug cartel but Rhonda doesn’t want to get herself killed. She tells Bobby she is sorry for what happened to J.R., He was quite the gentleman, according to Rhonda, a true rarity in her line of work.

Either Ken Richards gets sick of being a weak pussy and letting Governor McConaughey blackmail him, or he really does want a chance with that vamp of all vamps, Sue Ellen, who is still swilling down the booze whenever a waiter with a shot glass passes by. Ken sends Sue Ellen evidence that Harris Ryland is one of the Governor’s largest campaign contributors. And just think, Sue Ellen was disgraced as corrupt in the election against this guy. Wait till they take evil Harris down and expose the Governor. Sue Ellen will be in Austin in no time at all.

But for now, evil Harris sits in the Governor’s office gloating over his likeness to a Komodo dragon, while the Ewings find out that the government has seized their rig on the Henderson ranch. They can’t drill and they won’t be able to pay that billion dollar fine or the bank. Geez, how much was that thing pumping?

There are 4 more episodes of the second season of Dallas left and they will be aired on the next 2 Mondays — 2 hours at a time. That’s really great! We love it when they show 2 episodes back to back. Don’t miss it.
