Crazy Love Recap: Shameless

In “Crazy Love” (Shameless S5 E6 2/15/15), the two main storylines were Fiona’s reaction to the return of Jimmy and Ian on the run with baby Yevgeny (Yevi). We guess the crazy love can refer to both: Fiona and Jimmy (we are sick and tired of calling him Jimmy/Steve/Jack) as well as Mickey and Ian. It was pretty crazy that Mickey was more concerned about Ian than his baby to the point where he would not let Svetlana call the police after Ian (“crazy carrot boy”) took off with the cute little tyke.

The episode began with Fiona cursing and beating Jimmy outside of Patsy’s Pies while her boss Sean and everyone watched. After taking his lumps, Jimmy says he was handcuffed to a metal pipe on a yacht, then forced into slave labor in South America, even had malaria and then he escaped. Angela is his partner in crime, so apparently he is still a thief. In the midst of this, Fiona gets a call from Mickey, who informs of her that Ian has taken off with baby Yevi.

At the Gallagher house, Sammi has taken over and is making breakfast for the kids while Frank stumbles home looking for his monthly check. He and Gail, the mail lady, exchange insults and upon arrival, Sammi tells him there are new rules, long overdue rules. Frank can either crawl back to the gutter he came from or sleep on the couch. If he has no money, he gets no food. There’s also a curfew. The doors will be locked at 10 pm and anyone still out won’t be getting in. Debbie and Carl are outraged but Sammi warns them not to test her. When she learns it is Debbie’s first day of high school, she gives Debbie mucho off-the-wall advice and offers her and Carl some money for school supplies. They both turn it down. Carl is planning on stealing his supplies from the weaker kids. Sammi asks him to steal some for Chuckie too.

Fiona arrives and tells everyone about Ian. Fiona doesn’t take issue with Sammi taking over the household. She takes issue with Sammi describing Ian as gay. Carl is sent to answer an insistent knock on the door and it is Jimmy. Everyone is shocked to see Jimmy, except Sammi, who doesn’t even know who he is. Jimmy notices a foul odor and Fiona points to Frank on the couch. Lip says “I thought you were married” to Fiona and she admits she is — to Gus, the musician. Jimmy makes a few smart alecky remarks about Gus and Fiona kicks him out. She follows him outside and explains who Sammi is, tells him about how she went to jail for leaving cocaine where Liam could get a hold of it. He admits that he has had Angela spying on her and asks if she still loves him. When she says no, he calls her a liar. As everyone watches from the window, Fiona Roundheels falls into his arms and Sammi says that’s hot. He ends up spending the night.

Seriously, folks, it doesn’t take much to get Fiona in the sack. Since Jimmy has been gone, she’s slept with Mike and his brother, Robbie. She hopped in bed with Gus because she liked his guitar playing and even married him. She would have been sleeping with her boss Sean before that except Sean didn’t want to get involved in her chaotic world. She would have ended up in bed with Davis, too, if his girlfriend hadn’t shown up.

On the road, Ian blathers on about how it’s him and Yevi against the world and all their problems are behind them. They are going to Disneyland! –and the baby gurgles and giggles. Ian pulls off the road to sleep and wakes up to the baby screaming. He needs a diaper change and some food.

Back In Chicago, Gus shows up at the Gallaghers and notices the foul odor, too. Fiona points out Frank and says you get used to it. Gus has to go write some music but wants to know if there’s anything he can do to help. Fiona says there’s nothing anyone can do except wait. After Gus leaves, Fiona goes upstairs and tells Jimmy to get out. He gets a cup of coffee from Sammi while she goes over to see Veronica.

V has her own troubles to confide. She and Kev are separated, he’s sleeping on the couch because he puts the babies before her. Fiona keeps her problems to herself and goes to work. There Sean butts in her business with Jimmy and Angela shows up. She assures Fiona that Jimmy isn’t her type, Fiona is, and wants to know if he will be staying. Fiona doesn’t know.

Evidently, Ian did not take the $600 he made from that movie. He didn’t even have enough money to pay for diapers but a kind lady in the store paid for them. Later, Ian left the baby in the car to go off and make some quick money. A woman saw him walk away from the baby and get in a man’s car. She went to take Yevi out of the car but it was locked so she called the police.

Ian returned to find the police trying to open the car. In a complete manic panic, he grabbed Yevi and ran off screaming that they were trying to take his baby. After the police are able to get things under control, they call up Mickey to inform him that Ian and Yevi are in Terre Haute, Indiana — about 3 hours south of Chicago. Mickey and the Gallaghers go down there to get them. A sorrowful Mickey helps Ian check himself into a psych ward.

Jimmy returns to the Gallagher house declaring his love for Fiona over and over until they are at it again but she suddenly stops him and begs him to leave. She goes to Gus’ apartment and cries while they make love. The next morning, Gus and Davis are practicing in the other room. Gus says her phone kept going off and watches her as she returns Lip’s call.

In the middle of all of this, Svetlana went into labor. She told Mickey that Nika would take her to the hospital and if the baby was not back by the time she returns, she was calling the police At the hospital, Nika propositioned the surrogate father while the surrogate mother was seeing Svetlana.
